Release Notes
This is the inaugural release of site-recovery, a Kubernetes operator designed to automate site recovery and disaster recovery workflows across clusters. It provides platform engineers and SREs with a declarative, Kubernetes-native approach to managing failover, failback, and cross-cluster recovery operations. As the first release, all features are new and no migration from a previous version is required.
New features
- Kubernetes Operator for Disaster RecoveryIntroduces the core site-recovery operator, enabling automated disaster recovery workflows across Kubernetes clusters using standard Kubernetes custom resources and controllers.
- Declarative Recovery WorkflowsDefine site recovery plans as Kubernetes custom resources, allowing teams to version-control, audit, and automate failover and failback procedures without manual intervention.
- Multi-Cluster SupportCoordinate recovery operations across multiple Kubernetes clusters, supporting both active-passive and active-active site topologies for flexible disaster recovery architectures.
- Automated Failover and FailbackTrigger and orchestrate failover to secondary sites and failback to primary sites automatically or on demand, reducing recovery time objectives (RTO) for critical workloads.
- Recovery Status and ObservabilityMonitor recovery workflow progress, health, and history through Kubernetes resource status conditions, events, and compatible metrics endpoints for integration with existing observability stacks.
