Acceptance & Eligibility
1.1 Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the Git2Docs platform, website, or any associated services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
1.2 Authority to Bind
If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a company, organization, or other legal entity ("Organization"), you represent and warrant that you have the legal authority to bind that Organization to these Terms. In that case, "you" and "your" refer to that Organization. If you do not have such authority, you may not accept these Terms on behalf of the Organization.
1.3 Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and capable of forming a legally binding contract to use the Service. The Service is intended for business and professional use. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
1.4 Updates to Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. See Section 16 (Changes to Terms) for how we handle updates. Your continued use of the Service after any revision constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms, the following definitions apply:
- "Service" means the Git2Docs platform, including the web application, documentation generation pipeline, API, and any associated tools or features made available by Git2Docs.
- "Repository Content" means any source code, configuration files, README files, comments, documentation, or other materials you submit to the Service for processing.
- "Generated Documentation" means the user-facing documentation output produced by the Service from your Repository Content.
- "Organization" means the entity or individual account associated with your Git2Docs subscription.
- "User" means any individual who accesses the Service under your Organization's account.
- "Subscription" means a paid plan granting access to the Service for a defined period.
- "In-App Configuration" means the editorial settings, documentation structure preferences, and pipeline options you configure within the Git2Docs interface and stored in our systems.
Subscriptions & Billing
3.1 Subscription Plans
Git2Docs offers subscription plans priced on a per-repository basis. Current pricing, plan features, and billing cycles are described on our pricing page at git2docs.com/pricing. We reserve the right to modify pricing with advance notice as described in Section 16.
3.2 Payment Processing
All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Git2Docs does not store your full credit card numbers. We retain only the last four digits, card brand, and expiration date for display in your billing dashboard. By providing a payment method, you authorize Git2Docs to charge that method for all applicable fees.
3.3 Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time from your billing dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to the Service until that date.
3.4 Proration
When you upgrade your plan mid-cycle, you will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the billing period. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing period.
3.5 Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we will notify you by email and attempt to retry the charge. If payment remains outstanding after a reasonable grace period, we may suspend access to the Service until payment is resolved. We will not permanently delete your data during a payment grace period.
3.6 Refunds
Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law or at our sole discretion. If you believe you were charged in error, please contact support@git2docs.com within 30 days of the charge.
3.7 Taxes
Subscription fees are exclusive of applicable taxes. You are responsible for all taxes, duties, or levies imposed by any governmental authority in connection with your use of the Service.
Free Trial
4.1 Trial Eligibility
Git2Docs may offer a free trial period to new Organizations. Trial access is limited to one trial per Organization. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent trial limits is prohibited and may result in account termination.
4.2 No Credit Card Required
Where indicated, free trials do not require a payment method. Trial features and limits may differ from paid plans and are described at the time of signup.
4.3 Trial Expiry
At the end of your trial period, access to the Service will be suspended unless you subscribe to a paid plan. Your data, including any Generated Documentation, will be retained for 30 days after trial expiry to allow you to subscribe and regain access. After 30 days, trial data may be permanently deleted.
4.4 No Warranty During Trial
The Service is provided during the trial period on an "as is" basis without any warranties or support commitments. Trial access may be revoked at any time at our discretion.
Acceptable Use
5.1 Permitted Use
You may use the Service to generate, manage, and publish documentation for software repositories you own or have authorization to document. The Service is intended for lawful, professional use consistent with these Terms.
5.2 Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Submit Repository Content that you do not have the legal right to process or that infringes any third-party intellectual property rights
- Use the Service to generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, harmful, or deceptive
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or derive the source code or AI models underlying the Service
- Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to third parties without our express written consent
- Circumvent per-repository limits by connecting the same repository under multiple accounts
- Use automated scripts or bots to abuse the documentation generation pipeline beyond normal use
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other Organizations' data or the Service's infrastructure
- Use the Service in any manner that violates GitHub's Terms of Service or API policies
- Submit content containing malware, exploits, or code designed to interfere with the Service
5.3 Enforcement
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of this Section and to suspend or terminate accounts found to be in violation, with or without notice, depending on the severity of the breach.
Repository Data & Intellectual Property
6.1 Your Content, Your Ownership
You retain full ownership of all Repository Content you submit to Git2Docs. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your Repository Content to Git2Docs. Generated Documentation produced from your Repository Content is also owned by you.
6.2 Limited License to Process
By connecting a repository or submitting files to Git2Docs, you grant Git2Docs a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access, read, and process your Repository Content solely to provide the Service to you. This license is strictly scoped to service delivery and does not extend to any other purpose.
6.3 No Model Training
Git2Docs does not use your Repository Content to train, fine-tune, or improve any machine learning model, including the AI models used in our documentation pipeline. Your code and proprietary data are processed transiently for your requested output and are not retained for any secondary purpose.
6.4 Confidentiality of Repository Content
Git2Docs treats all Repository Content as confidential by default, regardless of whether the source repository is public or private. We will not share, sell, or disclose your Repository Content to third parties except as necessary to deliver the Service — for example, transmitting content to our AI processing pipeline, which operates under equivalent data processing agreements.
6.5 Data Retention and Deletion
Upon cancellation or termination of your subscription, Git2Docs retains your account data and Generated Documentation for 30 days to allow you to export your content. After this period, your data will be permanently deleted. You may request immediate deletion by contacting support@git2docs.com. Deletion requests will be completed within 14 business days.
6.6 Multi-Tenant Isolation
Git2Docs operates a multi-tenant architecture. All Repository Content and Generated Documentation is logically isolated by Organization and is not accessible to other Organizations on the platform. We maintain strict data partitioning controls and conduct regular audits to verify isolation integrity.
6.7 Your Responsibilities
You represent and warrant that: (a) you have the legal right to submit all Repository Content to Git2Docs for processing; (b) your Repository Content does not violate any third-party intellectual property rights; and (c) you will not submit content containing personal data in violation of applicable privacy laws. You are solely responsible for the legality of the source material you connect to the Service.
6.8 Git2Docs Intellectual Property
Git2Docs retains all ownership of the Service, including the documentation generation pipeline, AI workflow, user interface, platform design, and all associated technology. These Terms do not grant you any rights in Git2Docs' intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as described herein.
AI-Generated Content
7.1 Nature of Generated Documentation
Documentation produced by Git2Docs is generated using large language models that analyze your Repository Content. While we design our pipeline to maximize accuracy and relevance, AI models are probabilistic systems that may produce output that is technically inaccurate, incomplete, inconsistent, or missing context implicit in your codebase.
7.2 No Warranty of Accuracy
Git2Docs makes no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose of any Generated Documentation. Generated Documentation is provided as a starting point for your documentation workflow, not as a finished authoritative product.
7.3 Your Review Obligation
You are solely responsible for reviewing, validating, correcting, and approving all Generated Documentation before it is published, shared, or relied upon by any third party. Git2Docs provides human correction tools — including prompt-based section editing, confidence tier indicators, and in-app documentation configuration — to assist in this review process. Use of these tools does not transfer the review obligation from you to Git2Docs.
7.4 No Professional Advice
Generated Documentation does not constitute legal, security, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Do not rely on Generated Documentation for safety-critical systems, compliance determinations, or regulatory filings without independent expert review.
7.5 Intellectual Property in Generated Output
To the extent Generated Documentation may incorporate patterns from publicly available training data, Git2Docs makes no representation that Generated Documentation is free of third-party intellectual property claims. You are responsible for independently assessing the intellectual property status of Generated Documentation you publish.
7.6 AI Pipeline Changes
Git2Docs may update, replace, or modify the AI models and processing pipeline at any time. Such changes may affect the style, structure, or content of future documentation generations. We will provide advance notice of material pipeline changes that may affect human-authored sections.
GitHub Integration
8.1 GitHub App
Git2Docs accesses your GitHub repositories through a GitHub App integration governed by GitHub's Terms of Service and API policies. The GitHub App is granted only the permissions required to read the repositories you explicitly connect.
8.2 Revocation of Access
You may revoke the GitHub App's access at any time from your GitHub account settings. Revocation will immediately prevent further repository processing by Git2Docs. Git2Docs is not responsible for any data already processed prior to revocation.
8.3 GitHub API Availability
The Service relies in part on GitHub's API. Git2Docs is not responsible for service interruptions, API rate limit changes, or modifications to GitHub's policies that affect the availability or functionality of the Service.
8.4 Sync Triggers
Documentation generation is triggered by events you initiate or configure within the Service, such as GitHub release tags. Git2Docs does not process repository content outside of explicitly triggered sync events.
Custom Domains
9.1 Custom Domain Configuration
Git2Docs allows you to publish your Generated Documentation on a custom domain you own and control. You are responsible for configuring DNS records correctly and for maintaining ownership of your domain for the duration of its use with the Service.
9.2 Responsibility for Published Content
You are solely responsible for all content published at your custom domain. Git2Docs is not liable for any content published on customer-controlled domains, including any Generated Documentation that is inaccurate, misleading, or infringes third-party rights.
9.3 Domain Verification
Git2Docs uses DNS TXT record verification to confirm your ownership of a domain before enabling custom domain functionality. You represent that you have the right to use any domain you connect to the Service.
9.4 Domain Termination
Upon termination or suspension of your account, Git2Docs may disable your custom domain configuration. We are not responsible for any service disruption to your custom domain resulting from account suspension or termination.
Privacy & Security
10.1 Privacy Policy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available at git2docs.com/privacy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you agree to the collection, use, and processing of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
10.2 Security Measures
Git2Docs implements industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for notifying us promptly at security@git2docs.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
10.3 Data Processing
If you are subject to data protection laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, please contact us to discuss a Data Processing Agreement. We are committed to supporting your compliance obligations and will work with you in good faith to address applicable requirements.
Termination
11.1 Termination by You
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your billing dashboard. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period. To close your account entirely, contact support@git2docs.com.
11.2 Termination by Git2Docs
Git2Docs may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, if: (a) you materially breach these Terms and fail to cure within 10 days of notice; (b) you engage in prohibited conduct under Section 5; (c) you fail to pay fees after a grace period; or (d) we are required to do so by law.
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Your data will be retained for 30 days following termination to allow export, after which it will be permanently deleted. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 6 (IP), 7 (AI Content Disclaimer), 12 (Limitation of Liability), 13 (Indemnification), and 15 (Governing Law) — will survive.
11.4 Export Before Termination
We encourage you to export your Generated Documentation before cancelling or closing your account. Git2Docs is not responsible for any loss of data after the 30-day post-termination retention window.
Limitation of Liability
12.1 Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GIT2DOCS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Git2Docs does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any Generated Documentation will be accurate or suitable for your intended use.
12.2 Exclusion of Consequential Damages
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GIT2DOCS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR: loss of profits, revenue, or anticipated savings; loss of business or contracts; loss or corruption of data; business interruption or reputational harm; cost of substitute services; or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — regardless of the theory of liability and even if Git2Docs has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
12.3 Liability Cap
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GIT2DOCS' TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO GIT2DOCS IN THE TWELVE CALENDAR MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM; OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100).
12.4 Exceptions
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability exclusions — in such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
12.5 Force Majeure
Git2Docs will not be liable for any failure or delay resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including GitHub or Anthropic API outages, internet failures, denial-of-service attacks, acts of God, or changes in law. We will notify you promptly and resume performance as quickly as reasonably possible.
12.6 Basis of the Bargain
The limitations in this Section 12 are a fundamental element of the agreement between Git2Docs and you. Git2Docs could not provide the Service on an economically viable basis without these limitations. They apply notwithstanding any failure of essential purpose of any limited remedy.
Indemnification
13.1 Your Indemnification Obligations
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Git2Docs, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms; (b) your Repository Content; (c) Generated Documentation you publish or distribute; (d) your violation of any third-party intellectual property rights; or (e) your breach of any representation or warranty in these Terms.
13.2 Process
Git2Docs will promptly notify you of any claim for which indemnification is sought, cooperate reasonably in the defense, and not settle any claim without your prior written consent (not to be unreasonably withheld). You may not settle any claim that imposes obligations on Git2Docs without our prior written consent.
DMCA & Copyright Complaints
14.1 DMCA Compliance
Git2Docs respects intellectual property rights and will respond to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable law.
14.2 Reporting Infringement
If you believe that content on the Service or on a Git2Docs-hosted documentation portal infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to dmca@git2docs.com containing: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location on our platform; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized; (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate; and (f) your electronic or physical signature.
14.3 Counter-Notices
If you believe your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to the address above. We will process counter-notices in accordance with DMCA procedures.
14.4 Repeat Infringers
Git2Docs will terminate the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat copyright infringers in appropriate circumstances.
Governing Law & Disputes
15.1 Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute arising from them will be governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
15.2 Dispute Resolution
Before initiating formal legal proceedings, the parties agree to attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting support@git2docs.com and allowing 30 days for good-faith negotiation.
15.3 Jurisdiction
For disputes not resolved informally, each party submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.
15.4 Class Action Waiver
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis only, and not as a class or representative action.
Changes to Terms
16.1 Notification of Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice by email to the address on your account or by prominent notice within the Service. Non-material changes (e.g., clarifications, typographical corrections) may be made without notice.
16.2 Acceptance of Changes
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and cancel your subscription before the effective date.
16.3 Pricing Changes
Pricing changes will be communicated at least 30 days before they take effect and will apply to the next billing cycle following notice.
General Provisions
17.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any supplemental terms for specific features, constitute the entire agreement between you and Git2Docs regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
17.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
17.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision. Waivers must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Git2Docs to be effective.
17.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights hereunder without our prior written consent. Git2Docs may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of our assets, with notice to you. These Terms bind and inure to the benefit of the parties' permitted successors and assigns.
17.5 Notices
Notices from Git2Docs will be delivered to the email address on your account. You are responsible for keeping your contact information current. Notices to Git2Docs should be sent to legal@git2docs.com.
17.6 Contact
If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at legal@git2docs.com or write to Git2Docs, [Address to be confirmed].
